Immerse yourself in the art of kukui nut lei making. Also known as the candlenut tree, the kukui tree sports shimmering silvery leaves and is found in the forests of Hawaii. Historically, the kukui seed or nut was harvested and used for light, as its natural oils can be lit on fire to produce candlelight, representing light, renewal and hope. We'll share the history and folklore associated with kukui as you weave the nuts into a long-lasting lei. Learning as you go, we hope the meditative art of weaving the lei and working with the kukui will bring you light, hope and a sense of renewal.
